Welcome to APLA!
What We’re All About
We're an Asian-Interest community for undergraduates at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. We focus on domestic/international AAPI law and unique barriers and issues AAPI face when pursuing a career in law and politics.
Feel free to navigate through our website to learn more about us!
1
Law
Many Asian countries have grown to become global superpowers. This has ushered in an era of increased interaction between Asian and American governments and markets. APLA's goal is to provide opportunities to learn and engage in some of the unique domestic and international opportunities surrounding these Asian-American relationships.
2
Career
Though AAPI representation in the law has increased in recent years, AAPI still face racial stereotypes and biases that affect their ability to successfully and safely pursue a career in law & politics. APLA's goal is to help knock down these barriers for our members by promoting awareness and inclusion in the law.
3
Community
One of the biggest struggles Asian-American Pre-Law students face is a feeling of exclusion or isolation. APLA provides a supportive community for any student that wants to discuss Asian-Interest law, their personal experiences as AAPI in pre-law, or just wants to meet other individuals with an interest in AAPI and the law.
